Herbert Truman born Dawlish, Devon . Studied at St.Martins School of Art. In 1912 went to Egypt as Chief Inspector of Arts & Crafts. Settled in St.Ives in the early 1920's where he was a founder member of the St.Ives Society of Artist elected to the committee in 1928. Although best known for his harbour and street scenes around St.Ives, he was a versitile artist who could paint a wide range of subject matter.
Many of his paintings were reproduced as prints and as postcards and he also designed one of the best known G.W.R. posters for Cornwall and St.Ives.
This is a superb example of a flower painting by this artist and comes complete with its original period frame. .
